1. My first month as a Local Joe has been a really nice re-dedication to running.
2. What’s been your best experience so far?
I love the long Saturday runs. I love being assigned a number of miles to complete. That leaves zero room for negotiation, which my brain loves to do every time I start out on a run. If left on my own, I’ll make a plan to run four, but then 45 steps into it my brain is all, “Hey! You don’t have to do four. Three miles is still perfectly awesome. Do you know how many people aren’t running anything today? And you’re running three! You are amazing. So just do three, cool?”
No dice with the Start2Finish plan. If the training plan stuck to my fridge says six miles, then I am going to run ALL six. Take that, brain.
I don’t think anything can qualify as “worst.” Some runs have been less awesome than others, but at the end it still feels pretty dang great regardless of time, temperature or anything else.
4. How are you feeling about July’s training?
Fine, I think. I’ll be in the Colorado mountains for a week, so I’m a bit concerned about adjusting to the altitude and if all our hiking plans will leave me less in the tank for running.
